Ajisai

あじさいが街の至る所に咲き乱れる季節になりました。

あじさいの語源のもっとも有力なものとされるのは、「藍が集まったもの」を意味する「あづさい」が訛ったものとする説です。

また、色がよく変わることから七変化とも言われるそうです。
咲き始めから、盛りの頃にかけてだんだんと色が移り変わってゆくのを見ると、時の流れを色で示しているようですね＾＾

お茶会の時に出されるような、あじさいの和菓子もありますよね。艶やかな紫色のゼリーがきれいに並べられたお菓子はとてもきれい。和菓子には四季を楽しむ心があって、これも素敵な文化だと思います。

The most popular origin of a word "Ajisai" is "Azusai" which means collection of indigo colors.

Also, it is also called "Nana-henge", meaning "various changes" because it often changes its colors. Realizing the changes of its colors, I refer the change of colors to the one of time.

We also have Japanese sweets of Ajisai, which is used at tea ceremonies. The beautiful confectionary with purple jerry. Japanese sweets tries to express season, which I think is wonderful Japanese culture.
