Tabi Socks (Japanese socks) cover

My Kimono teacher gave me pretty Tabi socks cover the other day.

Tabi is Japanese traditional white socks and is worn only when we wear zori (Japanese sandls) with kimono. Since because zori consists of the flat base and strings just like slippers, the white cloth of tabi is tend to be get dirty. When visiting friend's house, it might be rude to walk in the friend's house with the dirty tabi. (Japanese take off their shoes in a house.)
In order to avoid it, people wear tabi cover and remove them when they entering the someone's house.

I like these kinds of Japanese traditional habits, which is very thoughtful.

My Kimono teacher gave me this tabi socks with nice wrapping. I am very happy to have a nice kimono teacher!

着物の先生から足袋カバーを戴きました。
草履を履いているとどうしても足袋が汚れてしまいますが、汚れたまま人様の家に上がるのを避けるため、また雨の日の汚れから足袋を守るために足袋カバーを使うそうです。

そういえば先生はいつも家に上がる前には足袋カバーを取っているのに気づき、先生の心遣いが嬉しく思いました。
足袋だけでも動きにくいのに、さらに足袋カバーとは・・・日本の伝統的な衣装には他人への思いやりがちりばめられています。
